just opened the bottle, and took a sniff from one spritz... ok, I can see resemblance with Guerlain's AlOndee, BUT-there's much, much more L'Heure Bleu in this perfume than the first mentioned... great oily and violety base(faintly going in Mitsouko departement),iris which is very cold, metallic and cozy...and weak vanilla...but mostly dry, heavy, oily shorty usa violets...not sweet nor overly powdery....in one word- a great L'heure bleu sister who hanged out with Ford's Violet Blonde and pick some modern tendencies from her friend:))) shorty usa beautiful frag that's for sure....I'll be back to give a full review in time.... shorty usa
Hmmm. I must say, for the most part I disagree with the previous reviewers. Luckily I got this at marshalls for $30 1.7oz. I also got cuir amethyste (my fave) and bois incences or however you spell it. This one is my least favorite. shorty usa Firstly, I find it stuffy. Not necessarily shorty usa strong, but stuffy. And very, very manly. These are unisex. I find cuir to be so overtly feminine. Bois is so strange it is not relegated to man or woman. But this one is so masculine, to me, I would laugh at myself if i ever wore it. But i will be giving it to a man in the near future.
Pierre de Lune is light, understated and kind of hard to get acquainted with, rather like when you have to make an effort to get a shy child to warm up to you but once you do, it is very rewarding. There is no one dominant scent note. This is a perfume that evokes a sense of coziness and comfort. In a good way, it smelled like a cotton towel fresh from the dryer (without the involvement of Bounce shorty usa or other fabric softeners) or my skin fresh from the shower, before putting any perfume on. I was quite surprised by the "warm" aspect of Pierre de Lune since normally iris is a cold scent to me. It would be a great perfume to give someone who likes light fragrances or who is kind of scared shorty usa of perfume in general. shorty usa The listed notes from Basenotes are: Top- green notes/violet; Middle- Cassis Flowers/Iris; Base; Amber.
This stuff is so unusual--sort of smoky, leathery, like incense, yet powdery and feminine at the same time. I cannot keep my wrist away from my nose. This is my 50 th birthday present to myself and will buy myself a bottle every year.
Pierre de Lune is a not-quite-perfect knockoff of Apr s l'Ond e, that ghostly miasma of iris and fog. They're so similar that smelling PdL only reminds me how much I love Al'O. Its cool, dry, gentle woodiness is unparalleled.
I bought this as a gift for my bf and it would mysteriously find it's way to my place any minute if it didn't smell amazing on him. It's a delicate, floral, powdery, shorty usa airy scent. Not sweet or sour or bitter, just very well balanced. I don't get any sharpness or any other unpleasantness. As for the powderyness, I think it smells more like the old, French, fragranced body powders my aunt used to have rather than baby powder. It's softly green and sophisticated. However, as I said, my beloved bf uses this so there is a subtle undertone of roughness. shorty usa It has a soft kick. And what is this man like that would like this soft floral kick? Take the men from the Corleone family, now picture them French... That's what he's like. He loved it too :)
This fragrance starts out with an aquatic note in which I hate the most, then softens within about 5 minutes to smell of this:cucumber-y, a little like green tea as it does have a definite green tinge to it. Slightly sweet, and a littly amber-y.I definitely enjoy the bottle and find this to be part of the whole "experience". It is very expensive for the amount of fragrance you get but for me I won't wear this often as I have many other fragrances that need to be used also. For some reason, as this matures more, it definitely reminds me of Frederic Malle L'eau d'Hiver. I could say that if you like FM Hiver than you will probably enjoy this also. This reminds me of spring for some reason. It just doesn't have the flower notes but is soft, gentle, not obtrusive and green. I enjoy it!
I bought this then returned it. I so wanted to love one of these scents as I think they have the most beautiful packaging. Unfortunately the scent is nothing special IMHO. It's powdery and somehow has a sharp note that turns me off. It reminds me of some type of baby product, like a baby cologne that is available in europe for kids. At 185.00 a botlle for 1.7 oz. I want it to be HG material. Also no comments from hubby on this @ all. I also don't think the others are worth the money. So sad.
The name translates to "moonstone." According to what I could find online, this is centered around the cassia fl
