The story: On the terrible visions haunt Jonathan Childes, bloody images of terror and murder. This is a result of such visions, its indications, the police was able to find once the mutilated bodies of the victims of apparently ritual murders. Childes was cleared - how he knew so long? - But the unfortunate reputation continues.
And here we go again, on the small island where he took refuge, as if in telepathic pajar communication with some bloodthirsty monsters. Other murders take place, other dramatic events ... and Childes is always notified first, mocked might say by the criminal. The threat soon becomes clear, is transformed pajar into sheer terror when the monstrous creature emerges in the same island pajar where Childes expected to find peace ...
The criticism of Mr K: It's been a while since I had not read a book by this author that I particularly (see criticism of another title here). He is best known for his novels of terror where the gory scenes are legions in a style that is both simple and virtuoso aligning chapters unbridled speed without ever leaving the rest to the poor reader. This novel is slightly different that showcases the psychology and the paranormal. Attention fasten your seatbelt, you embark on a journey where dreams, visions and reality mingle closely!
Poor Jonathan Childes! The first chapters we have a peaceful man, professor of computer science, set in the Anglo-Norman islands, quietly living his new life. He attended a woman who loves him, he is very complicit with her daughter remained in London with his ex-wife, his marriage did not survive the past events (and what tests!). But then one day (? Or perhaps a night), he's attacked by the bleak visions again, the body of a child buried and mutilated, murdered an old man ... The old demons are back, it seems that something is not set ...
From there, the hero's life slips. All certainties evaporate leaving room for doubt and anxiety. The balance became unstable to paraphrase Stanislas (sic Should I stop valves rotten!) And Jonathan sinks into a nightmare. The threat is more present putting his family in danger and despite everything he tries to do, nothing seems to prevent the inevitable. This lasts until the last chapter of the terrifying and final opening more interesting.
I do not beat around the bush, Herbert did not like him to keep the suspense and unlike many authors pajar it provides when it comes to complete the plot. Remarkably constructed chapters that the buck so diabolical, he played with our nerves with this fantastic story rooted in an ordinary day. Frankly, I was scared at times and is sometimes surprised by the path taken by the hero. The chapters describing the haymakers visions morbid pajar desire but gradually we realize that the psychological dimension is very dense. The characters are very well rendered in this respect there and takes the game
